Restart
Jan 06, 2005
Happy holidays to all, I’m back from a well-rested vacation and looking forward to taking on the new year. As usual, I made the same empty promises, lose weight, eat healthier, blog more, etc. We’ll see how I hold up. (Much) More importantly, my condolences and thoughts go out to those in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Maldives, and all other affected areas of the Tsunami.
Caffeine is the internet economy's life blood
Dec 09, 2004
Caffeine is the internet economy’s life blood. Yeah, that’s a bold statement, but when your entire industry is over-worked, you should realize that there are complimentary things that we owe a great deal of debt to our success. Personally, I’m suffering from some bad sleep depression and exhaustion right now. Today, I **_can not _**function without caffeine. My “sleep bank” has been exhausted and angry creditors beg for just a minute of rest.…more

Music to Code By
Nov 17, 2004
In my previous post on Music, Seattle, and the Web, my loyal blog readers (I still respect you all even if the majority of you actually like candy corns) gave some great recommendations for online music in the comments. One of the links I included was to a mix by DJ Bolivia, who personally emailed me and sent me a link to another mix that I might enjoy. How cool is that?…more
Following the progress of the US Election
Nov 02, 2004
I officially voted today, but I avoided the lines by using an absentee ballot. It really is the way to go. Someone internally sent out a link to this nice site on CNN that let’s you track the results of the US election: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/president/ You’ll need Flash to view the map, but it gives you the state-by-state results as they come in, and you can even zoom in to see specific counties.…more
Candy Corn is *the worst* Halloween candy
Oct 29, 2004
In our team meeting this week, Jay Roxe, the beloved VB Product Manager was nice enough to bring in some Halloween candy. But alas poor Jay brought what is, in my opinion, the absolute worst Halloween candy there is - candy corn. The nice and well meaning jesture met the wraith of me, BrianKel, and Rick and led to a discussion of what the worst Halloween candy of all time is.…more
Back in the blogging seat

My arm’s better and I’m stupid enough to start playing hockey in two weeks. Lots of stuff to catch up on and my workload has been obscene lately. I’ve done some catchup work, but still have a lot more to do. More blogging to come :)
Fractured Arm
Sep 09, 2004
I haven’t been blogging lately, mainly because I’m busy and because I fractured my arm. It happened about two weeks ago while playing roller hockey. I was going full speed from left to right and only had the goalie to beat. The goalie jumped out of the net, sending me airborn and I landed on the flat of my left hand. Both me and the puck had gotten past the goalie and the puck was sitting about a foot away from an empty net, but I couldn’t move my left arm to shovel the puck into the net.…more
Music - Seattle and on the Web
Aug 05, 2004
Ouch, this morning I experienced the pain Cyrus felt recently, I had to listen to 80’s music for the drive into work on C89.5 FM. Painful. I only listen to C89.5 when Howard Stern is on commercial (which last approx 10 minutes and happen every twenty minutes). I definitely agree with Cyrus though, Nocturnal Transmission rocks. If you’re a developer working late and need some peppy music to keep you up, you should definitely tune in.…more
