As I blogged about on Channel 9 earlier (I love that we can have text and video posts now), SQL Server 2008 RC0 is now available for download. On the download page, you may have noticed that there are two versions of SQL Server Express SQL Server 2008 Express 2. SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services While the SQL Server 2008 Editions page doesn’t list the “Advanced Services” Express Edition, luckily Mike Wachal from the SQL Server Express team posted a detailed breakdown of the differences on the SQL Server Express blog.…more

Popfly Game Creator Alpha launches today and It’s amazing. Kudos to Adam Nathan as he’s really shown how Silverlight can build incredibly rich applications. Channel 9 Spam Video Filter Beta Launched

In an on-going effort to ensure that Channel 9 videos only display appropriate content, the Channel 9 Dev Team recently ported the spam feature to filter existing video content. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the results of our first tests using some of the more popular C9 video clips. The video filter should be complete by the time we ship Channel 9 V4. I’m such a huge Bill Gates fan, not only for his technical and business brilliance, but for all of the work his foundation has done. That’s why when Jeff Sandquist and Charles Torre told me I was going to be interviewing Bill, I was….beside myself. The interview went well (in that I didn’t pee my pants or kneel to kiss his ring like some bad Italian mafia flick) and it was fascinating hearing how Bill still prototypes code/APIs and how he’s looking to do even more coding on health and education applications for the foundation.…more
